Cinco De Mayo Mio Wins!

October 16, 2010 · By · Share

It is still 203 days until Cinco De Mayo, but our three-year-old filly Cinco De Mayo Mio gave us plenty of reason to celebrate on Thursday at Belmont when she dominated a first level allowance field.

Our Tom Albertrani trainee broke well and confidently stalked the leader down the backside of the six furlong contest. The daughter of El Corredor was asked for run by Ramon Dominguez at the head of the stretch, and never looked back, easily scoring by 2 ¾ lengths on the line. The final time was 1:10.93.

Tom Albertrani said, "That was an excellent performance. This filly is all class. I knew turning for home that Ramon was very confident. We are going to have a lot of fun with her."

Jockey Ramon Dominguez said, "She was due for a win after her two races at Saratoga. I knew all along that I was in a good spot. I asked her for some run at the top of the stretch and she drew away easily."

Cinco De Mayo Mio earned $31,800 for the victory, bringing her race record to two wins and two seconds from five career starts.
