Mr. Candy Bar Wins!!!!

November 19, 2010 · By · Share

Take a look at the replay. Off as the 9/5 favorite, Mr. Candy Bar came surging past the field to break his maiden in impressive fashion yesterday at Golden Gate Fields. Our two-year-old son of Candy Ride (Arg) was making his third career start for trainer OJ Jaurequi, and proved to us that he has a bright future on the lawn. The final time for the one mile event was 1:39.01.

Jaurequi said, "I’ve always liked this colt. He’s got a good mind and is quite athletic. He put in a good effort in his first two races and learned so much. It all came together for him today."

It’s always a good sign when the nation’s all time winningest jockey takes the call on your horse. Russell Baze gave our colt a well timed, perfect ride. After the race he said, "This horse has a lot left in the tank. We haven’t seen his best. I took him back early and he settled really nicely for me down the backside. When I asked him for run, he just took off."

Mr. Candy Bar earned $16,800 for his maiden breaking score. Look for him back in action against winners before the end of the year at Golden Gate Fields.
