Our yearling filly by Proud Citizen will be joining the barn of top trainer Dale Romans this spring to compete on the Kentucky/Saratoga/Florida circuit. The decision was made to send the filly to Romans earlier this week.
This is a gorgeous filly that is very precocious," said WPT president Terry Finley. "She’s got a lot of Kentucky influence in her. Proud Citizen stands at Airdire Stud, where our former runner Flashy Bull stands as well. He did his best running in the Bluegrass State, winning the Lexington Stakes (G2) at Keeneland before finishing 2nd in the Kentucky Derby (G1). Proud Citizen’s leading runner, Proud Spell, won the 2008 Kentucky Oaks (G1) and earned over $2 million on the track. This filly’s broodmare sire is the late Maria’s Mon. He’s the sire of two Derby winners, Monarchos and Super Saver. As you can see all signs pointed to Kentucky."
"Dale is a superb horseman and we have developed a great partnership over the years," said Finley. " "Every horse we’ve sent to him has had their picture taken. We are very excited to expand our partnership with him and get this filly into his program. I think she will create a lot of buzz in Saratoga this summer."
Dale Romans is currently the 14th leading trainer in the United States, with his runners earnings over $5.3 million this year. His most notable runners include Eclipse Award winner Kitten’s Joy, Dubai World Cup winner Roses in May, multiple Grade 1 winners Paddy O’Prado and Swift Temper, and Breeders’ Cup winner Tapitsfly.
Our filly is presently in training with veteran horseman David McKathan in Ocala. Take a look at her training on the farm:
