West Point and Crupi: A Grade 1 Team

When Terry Finley first began dabbling in Thoroughbred ownership in the early 1990s, he knew trainer J.J. Crupi as the "king of Monmouth Park." Nearly 20 years later, Finley personally knows Crupi as a proven source for key horses. Finley’s West Point Thoroughbreds partnership uncovered its two most successful runners, Grade 1 winners Awesome Gem and Macho Again, along with current three-year-old stakes winner King Congie, from Crupi’s New Castle Farm consignment. On Thursday, West Point went as high as it has ever gone for a two-year-old at public auction, buying a Macho Uno colt for $700,000 through regular adviser, Buzz Chace.
