Mystical Rhythms Wins!

July 20, 2011 · By Erin Birkenhauer · Share

Mystical Rhythms has found a new home on the turf after breaking her maiden on Sunday at Belmont Park. Under a masterful ride by jockey Jose Lezcano, WPT's daughter of Grand Slam settled well in hand off the pace in the early stages of the six furlong turf event. At the top of the stretch she found herself between horses but in a “sweet position” according to track announcer Tom Durkin before pulling away and “breezing under the line.”

Trainer Jason Servis said, “I always knew this filly had some talent. We couldn’t bypass this spot when it came up, and I’m glad we made the move to the turf. Jose (Lezcano) rode her perfectly.”
WPT President Terry Finley said, "It's taken this filly some time to develop, but she showed us that it was well worth the wait with this win on Sunday. I agree with Jason that Jose rode her perfectly. I love to see horses relax like that and then come running late.

Next stop for Mystical Rhythms: Saratoga's lawn next month.
