Dancing Compass Wins Second Straight

April 18, 2012 · By Erin Birkenhauer · Share

Dancing Compass extended her win record to two in streaking fashion Monday, earning her second straight win at Parx.

Our 4-year-old daughter of Orientate broke on top in the six furlong starter allowance for fillies and mares (3-year-olds and up) and dueled for the lead from the inside under jockey Jose Flores through a quarter in 22.17 and a half in 45.43. She turned back the challenge of heavy favorite Truc’s Love on the turn and continued resolutely down the lane to score by a neck in 1.11 flat.

Flores said Dancing Compass pinned her ears and dug in when challenged by Truc’s Love at the eighth pole.

“She tried so hard today,” trainer Lupe Preciado agreed. “The early fractions were pretty fast, but our filly just kept going and wasn’t letting the other horse by. She looked good after the race.”

The purses are solid at Parx - Dancing Compass earned $18,000 for the win - and the plan is to run back in May, most likely in a 25k “non winners of three” starter allowance. For now, however, the WPT team is enjoying the victory. Congrats, Dancing Compass Partners!
