Twilight Eclipse Entered in Saturday's Kent Stakes (G3)
WPT’s 3-year-old gelding Twilight Eclipse is headed to the First State on Saturday to take on 10 other sophomores in the $200,000 Kent Stakes (G3) at Delaware Park.
Syndicated in two days after being purchased by WPT, Twilight Eclipse made his debut under the black and gold in the Equalize Stakes on August 30 at Saratoga. He finished fifth that day, but was closing with a rush. Prior to the Equalize, he won two races on the lawn at Indiana Downs.
“He should love the added distance,” said trainer Tom Albertrani. “He’s been working like a stakes horse over the past few weeks, and I’m expecting a big effort even though he’s probably not going to take a ton of money at the windows.”
“This horse is the underdog, that’s for sure,” said WPT President Terry Finley. “His race at Saratoga was deceptively good, and he ran a 10 on the Ragozin Sheets. Just a little bit of improvement, and he could win a race like this.”
WPT and team Albertrani are no stranger to the Kent Stakes. King Congie finished second last year after the race was washed off the turf.
Local veteran Joe Rocco, Jr. has the call. Twilight Eclipse breaks from post four of 11 in the 1 ⅛ mile turf event. Post time the Kent, race 7, is 4:15 ET.
Good luck to his Partners!
