Video of Awesome Gem Retraining to be a Stable Pony

Awesome Gem retired in September 2012 with earnings over $2.8 million. He won graded stakes races across the country, including the 2010 Hollywood Gold Cup (G1).

“Gem” as he’s known around the barn is now retraining to be a stable pony for trainer Craig Dollase. He’s built up quite a fan base over the years, and we hope you’ll follow him as he embarks on a new career. The WPT team and his Partners thank all the fans who followed Gem's racing career.

At this stage, Awesome Gem is getting used to wearing a western saddle (much bulkier than a racing saddle) and a different type of bridle. By summer, we expect he’ll be teaching the ropes to the new 2-year-olds in the barn.
