WPT Trainer Stewart 2nd in KY Derby

The WPT team congratulates trainer Dallas Stewart for his second place finish in the 139th Kentucky Derby with Golden Soul.

Stewart is no stranger to success at Churchill Downs, in 2005 Lemons Forever lit up the tote board with a win in the Kentucky Oaks.

"I was watching him and kind of lost him a little bit, but I saw him get out (down the stretch) and I jumped up on a chair and started screaming for him like a kid," Stewart said.

Stewart has trained for WPT for the past 17 years. “We’ve enjoyed quite a bit of success with Dallas,” said WPT president Terry Finley. “Not only is he an excellent, dedicated horseman, but he’s also a good friend. Macho Again (trained by Stewart) was one of the best horses to ever run under the black and gold. Getting to the Derby is a difficult task, hitting the board in the Derby is even harder.”

WPT has two 2-year-old colts joining the Stewart barn this spring, including Indy’s Twilight (Discreet Cat) and the recently purchased Master Command colt.

Could either of these colts be the fourth Derby starter for Stewart?
