Suns Out Guns Out Breaking His Maiden Last Summer at Saratoga

WPT 4-year-old Suns Out Guns Out tries a mile and a half for the first time in Monday’s $200,000 Greenwood Cup (G3) at Parx Racing.

Trained by Eclipse Award-winning trainer Dale Romans, the son of Empire Maker is coming off a second place finish in a mile and an eighth allowance event on August 8 at Saratoga. His most recent victory came in a first level allowance event at Indiana Downs on May 21.

“This is one of the most unlucky horses I’ve trained,” said Romans. “With just a little bit of racing luck, he’s probably a five time winner by now. He’s a big, sound horse who tries hard and has run some very good numbers in his career.”

“After his allowance race at Saratoga, the Greenwood Cup immediately popped into our minds,” said WPT president Terry Finley. “His strong suit is stamina, not speed, and even going a mile and an an eighth, the jock has to use him to stay in the race. We’re hoping he can just settle into a rhythm before grinding it out late.”

Post time for race 9 is 4:12 ET. Suns Out Guns Out breaks from post seven in the seven horse field with Robby Albarado in the irons.
