Skye Saratoga Wins by 9 Lengths!
NY-bred 2-year-old filly Skye Saratoga broke her maiden in style on Friday at Aqueduct. Trained by Tom Albertrani, the daughter of Golden Missile was dispatched as the favorite in the six-furlong maiden special weight. After tracking the leaders down the backstretch, she came three wide on the turn and drew away by nine lengths under Irad Ortiz, Jr.
“I sat chilly down the backside and when I asked her nearing the top of the stretch, she took off,” said Ortiz. “My filly was very professional and much the best.”
“Tom (Albertrani) isn’t known for having his first timers cranked up and ready to run lights out first time,” said WPT president Terry Finley. “This filly was fourth, beaten less than two lengths on debut so we knew she’d be very tough second time to the races. We absolutely loved her at OBS April Sale. She’s not the tallest horse in the world, but is very, very athletic and blew us away at the breeze show.”
