Awesome Vision Wins at Big A
Multiple stakes winning NY-bred Awesome Vision got his picture taken for the first time in over a year following a win against a salty group of statebred allowance horses last week at Aqueduct. The victory pushed his career earnings to $431,189.
Ridden by Javier Castellano, the son of Awesome Again sat close to the pace as tepid early fractions were set. He came under a ride at the seven-sixteenths pole, swung four wide at the top of the stretch, and drew clear to prevail by six lengths.
“This horse loves the Aqueduct inner track,” said WPT Chief Operating Officer Tom Bellhouse. “He won five races as a four-year-old in 2013, but seemed to have lost a step at five. After two pretty good efforts at Saratoga this summer, we’d been itching to get him back to the Big A because he just doesn’t seem to take to the surface at Belmont despite training over it for several years. This was a monster effort and we’ll now look to close out the year with a bang.”
Trained by Tom Albertrani, Awesome Vision is now pointing for the $100,000 Alex M. Robb Stakes (NYB) run at 1 1/16 miles on the dirt on Wednesday, December 31 at Aqueduct.
