Always Dreaming Morning Line 2nd Choice in KY Derby
Always Dreaming is making his owners’ dreams reality as he’s ready to go post ward in the 143rd Kentucky Derby on Saturday at Churchill Downs.
West Point Thoroughbreds purchased a minority interest in the son of Bodemeister following his impressive allowance score on March 4. Trained by Todd Pletcher, the colt went on to win the $1,000,000 Florida Derby (G1) and is the morning line 2nd choice in the Run for the Roses.
“This is what it’s all about,” said West Point president Terry Finley, who’s been on the grounds in Louisville all week. “Just seeing how excited the Partners are is very gratifying. Participating in the Kentucky Derby walkover and listening to My Old Kentucky home minutes before post are out of body experiences. Many thanks to the Violas and Bonomos for letting us be involved with such a special horse.”
Always Dreaming is owned by MeB Racing Stables LLC, Brooklyn Boyz Stables, Viola Racing Stables, St. Elias Stables LLC, West Point Thoroughbreds, and Siena Farm.
He breaks from post 5 under Hall of Famer John Velazquez. Post time for the Kentucky Derby is 6:46 ET and the race will be shown live on NBC.
Since 1975 and starting in the infield, West Point Partner Dana Fitzsimmons has been attending the Kentucky Derby. This year, he's sitting in an owner's box! Read his story.
