West Point Thoroughbreds and Head of Plains Partners have purchased an interest in promising 3-year-old filly Originator from owner Denholtz Stable.

Trained by Ian Wilkes, the daughter of Artie Schiller broke her maiden at first asking on January 14 at Gulfstream, showing an explosive turn of foot in the five-furlong maiden special weight on the turf.

“I was at Gulfstream last Sunday with West Point partner Rob Masiello, and was blown away by this filly’s turn of foot in the last sixteenth of a mile,” said West Point president Terry Finley. “I went right down to the winner’s circle and let Ian know we wanted in! Ian is a class act, and we’re excited to have a promising filly in his care.”

Consigned to the 2017 OBS June Sale by Eddie Woods, agent, Denholtz Stable purchased the daughter of the stakes-winning Capote mare Costume Designer for $70,000. The filly was a $30,000 RNA at the 2016 Keeneland September Yearling Sale.
