Seven Trumpets 2nd in Jerkens Stakes (G1)
Talented 3-year-old Seven Trumpets outran his odds bigtime when finishing second in Saturday’s $500,000 H. Allen Jerkens Memorial Stakes (G1).
The Morning Line colt trained by Dale Romans (who saddled the winner of the Jerkens, Promises Fulfilled) has provided his Partners with many thrills. He’s hit the board in six of 10 starts (with three wins), earned 357k, and competed at eight different racetracks.
He stamped his ticket to Saratoga following a gutsy second-place finish in the Dwyer Stakes (G3) on July 7 at Belmont.
“We’re so proud of this colt,” said Terry Finley. “He’s not the biggest horse in the world, but he’s all heart and lays his body down every time. If you cross off his debut, he’s hit the board in all of his one-turn races.”
The West Point buying team purchased Seven Trumpets at the 2017 OBS April Sale. Where he goes next is to be determined.
