Celebrated Memorial Day today by honoring our veterans of current and past wars. Always good to give thanks and remember the many people that paid the ultimate price so we can enjoy the freedoms of living in the greatest country on earth.
Tough weekend with the scratch of Mr. Fantasy from the Met Mile, and a difficult beat suffered by Awesome Gem at Golden Gate in a Grade Three. Mr. Fantasy just wasn't himself during training on Saturday morning. The spring had gone so well with things falling into place. We most likely would have been first or second choice today. Just wasn't meant to be.
We'll live to fight another day. Can't look back in this game. Once they run a race, whether we're in it or not, just turn the page and look forward. Gotta be positive all the time in this perplexing game we call racing.
I spent the weekend at Saratoga with Debbie and my daughter Erin. What a beautiful place. The first wave of horses is training on the Oklahoma Training Track. The pace around town is picking up each and every day. In a few days the Saratoga meet will be "next month".
Looks like Justwhistledixie is back to her old self. She worked as good as ever on Saturday morning at Belmont (five furlongs in 59 and change). They better bring their running shoes to beat her in the Acorn on Belmont Stakes Day.
Until next week,
