We are at the start of Belmont Stakes week. Man, the Triple Crown has gone by quickly. Of course, the Belmont is a funny race and don't be surprised if the racing world is left scratching its collective head late on Saturday afternoon by the outcome.
The horse cards, depicting our new Class of 2009, go in the mail this week. The entire process of buying, and then presenting, these young horses to potential investors is both lengthy and interesting.
Check them out, buy them, photograph them, do a writeup on them (we use the Bloodstock writer from the Thoroughbred Times, John Sparkman for a detailed pedigree writeup on each of them), send the mockups to the printer, proofread the returned drafts, send them to the printing press, and finally address them and get them out the door and into the hands of West Point clients and prospective clients.
This year we'll send out about 4300 full packets to the group. Now we just have to start getting the class up and running and into the winner's circle.
By the way, I love Mine That Bird in the Belmont. He'll be the favorite but I think he runs away from the field during that long journey around the Belmont strip.
Have a good week.
