Quality Lass Rolls Home at Pimlico / Tuesday, May 7, 2013

The speedy chestnut filly Quality Lass cruised to her fifth career victory on Sunday at Pimlico. Trained by Guadalupe Preciado and ridden by regular pilot Carlos Cruz, the 4-year-old daughter of Exclusive Quality now has earnings over $183,000.

Breaking from post three as the third choice in the field, Quality Lass sat just off the frontrunner in the early stages, bumped a rival near the half mile pole, sprinted clear in midstretch, and dug in to score by 3/4 of a length.

“This filly has blossomed since shipping to the Midatlantic,” says WPT president Terry Finley. “She’s not won four races this year and has now there will be even more options for her after this turf sprint win. She’s been known to be quirky and high strung, but Lupe has definitely figured her out.”

Congratulations to Quality Lass’ Partners — it’s been a fun year.
