Quality Lass became West Point Thoroughbreds’ newest stakes winner with a gutsy score in the Satin and Lace Stakes at Presque Isle Downs on Sunday night.

This was the sixth win of the 5-year-old Exclusive Quality mare’s career. Her career earnings now stand at just shy of $275,000.

After breaking a touch slow, Quality Lass used her natural speed to her advantage and quickly took command in the five and one half furlong event. After being headed in the final sixteenth, she came again near the wire to prevail by a head under Antonio Gallardo.

“(Trainer) Lupe Preciado has done a great job with this mare,” said WPT president Terry Finley. “We decided to stop on her after a start in November and wait for the turf season to start again. During that time she got stronger and definitely matured mentally. This was a fun race to watch.”
