One word. Beast.
This colt is the real deal, and our sights are squarely set on the 2019 Kentucky Derby trail. He’s by Uncle Mo, one of the most brilliant juveniles of the modern era. A son of Indian Charlie, Uncle Mo has already knocked it out of the park at stud, siring Kentucky Derby (G1) winner Nyquist.
The colt’s half-brother is a half-brother to European based Kentucky Derby contender Gronkowski (aka Gronk and named after the New England Patriots tight end). Under his second dam, you’ll see Flashy Bull, one of the most special horses in West Point history. He was our first Kentucky Derby starter and first grade one winner.
Uncle Mo progeny sold at the Fasig-Tipton Gulfstream Sale have been highly successful. Derby winner Nyquist was purchased in 2015 and grade one winning filly Dream Tree was purchased last year.
The colt’s breeze before the sale was a work of art -- he did it with extreme ease and showed incredible reach (his stride is 1.13 feet above average!).
We bought him from Eddie Woods, one of the very best developers of young horses in the world, and the person responsible for breaking and training almost all of WPT’s youngsters. When asked to describe this son of Uncle Mo he said, “He’s a grand horse.”
Christophe Clement is one of the very best trainers in the game. The list of notable horses he has trained seems endless, but a few that stick out include Belmont Stakes (G1) winner Tonalist, Gio Ponti, Voodoo Dancer, England’s Legend, Dynever, In Summation and Forbidden Apple. He also trains Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf (G1) runner-up Best Performance for WPT, and she’s a graduate of this very same sale.
