Owned by West Point Thoroughbreds, James Covello, and breeder Millennium Farms, School On a Hill is set to take on seven sophomores in Saturday’s $250,000 Sam F. Davis Stakes (G3) at Tampa Bay Downs. While the race was stripped of Kentucky Derby qualifying points, it will serve as an important prep for the Tampa Bay Derby and other preps in March.

“It’s the time of year to take a swing with sound, talented horse,” said WPT president Terry Finley. “His sire Student Council is a multiple graded stakes winner on dirt, and with the way he’s been working at Gulfstream, there’s good reason to think he’ll wake up . His last two races on the turf, were ok, but it’s time to change things up. We’re gonna be a longshot, but when Wayne’s confident, I’m confident.”
