I grew up on Long Island. My family first lived in Floral Park and later Garden City. It’s safe to say that from a young age I’ve had a passion for the Thoroughbred racing industry which began with following my father’s career as a jockey. I always wanted to follow in his footsteps but now standing at 6’ 2’’ tall, that ship has long since sailed. Although the jockey dream died, it never hindered my ambition to have a career in racing.
I went to Chaminade High School on Long Island. At the time I wasn’t thrilled to be attending an all-boys school but I ended up making friendships that will last a lifetime.
Attended the University of Delaware and graduated in 2013 with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management. I loved my time in Newark, DE and was proximate to both Fair Hill Training Center and Delaware Park.
Completed the Irish National Stud Course in 2014. An incredible 6 month program designed to teach young members within the industry all aspects of the operations of a major stud farm. I had the opportunity to work with mares and foals, yearlings, and stallions. The course also had stringent academic requirements and we received evening lectures on weekdays from industry leaders. The six months in Ireland also helped me establish a better understanding of European racing and breeding. I never thought I’d be regularly attending races at the Curragh when I was a young track rat at Belmont and Aqueduct.
I began working in racing at age 16 during summer vacations from school as a hotwalker for trainer John Kimmel. I spent my mornings at the barn and in the afternoon I worked for the New York Racing Association in the communications department.
After college and attending the Irish National Stud course, I decided to continue enhancing my knowledge of the breeding industry by completing a stud season in Australia. I was fortunate enough to be hired by one of Australia’s top farms in Arrowfield Stud to work in the covering shed. I found it very cool to be working with some of Australia’s top stallions such as Redoute’s Choice and Snitzel as well as American shuttle stallion and Kentucky Derby winner Animal Kingdom. I also had the opportunity to work the Magic Millions yearling sales on the Gold Coast.
Joining West Point Thoroughbreds
I am thrilled to be joining West Point as a Sales Associate. One of my greatest pleasures in racing is creating new racing fans by showing them a good time at the track. Giving people an inside look to what it takes to get a horse from the sales ring to the winners circle is a real rush, and in this role I’ll have the opportunity to do so. I grew up on New York racing and hope to share with partners how exciting it can be!
