Trey Gordon

After serving as Chairman of the Fort Worth Stock Show Syndicate, I needed something more in my life. In 2021, I became a West Point Partner and found that “something” — the integrity of the entire West Point team, the camaraderie with the Partners, and, of course, we all share the love of the horse.

Family – Carmon and I married in 2019; she is a real estate agent in Fort Worth. I have two wonderful twin stepdaughters: Emma, who relocated to New York City and now works for Tory Burch after graduating from the University of Texas, and Riley, currently pursuing her master’s degree in mental health counseling at St. Edward’s University in Austin, Texas, following her graduation from the University of San Diego. My daughter Tara, an All-American field hockey player, graduated from Northwestern University and now works for a non-profit while coaching field hockey in Fort Worth. My son Patrick attended the University of Notre Dame, where he served as President of the Bengal Bouts and undertook Catholic missions in Bangladesh in 2017. He won the Chicago Golden Gloves heavyweight division in 2018 and now resides in Fort Worth.

Education – I was a Notre Dame fan at the age of four when I asked my dad who was the team in the gold helmets. Honestly, I was more obnoxious than Rudy growing up. I tried to check all the boxes – altar boy for seven years, flew to Notre Dame basketball camp at age twelve, and I found out that my great, great grandfather was buried on the front row of the Notre Dame cemetery that lines Notre Dame Avenue as you approach the Golden Dome. By the grace of God, I received my acceptance letter. I earned a B.A. in History in 1988. I attended the Texas Tech School of Law, and I graduated with my JD in 1991. I earned my mediation certification in 2006.

Legal Practice – Following law school, I practiced at Cantey & Hanger until 2004, specializing in civil litigation. In 2007, I established a mediation practice. More recently, I was with the firm of Anderson & Riddle before joining the West Point team.

Fort Worth Involvement – My family’s roots in the Fort Worth area date back to the 1870s, where we once owned Boswell Dairies until the late 1950s. I draw inspiration from my grandfather, who ensured families had milk during the Depression, even if they couldn’t afford it, and later served as Chairman of the Board of TCU for eleven years. Currently, I serve on the Board of Directors for the Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo, and I have been a member of the Fort Worth Stock Show Syndicate for twenty-five years, serving as chairman in 2020 and 2021. Together, we have raised over $80 million for agricultural youth in Texas.

Interests –

  1. I love sports. My favorite teams are the Chicago Cubs and the Dallas Mavericks. I missed Friday classes at ND to drink beer in the bleachers at Wrigley Field.
  2. I enjoy bay fishing in South Padre Island.
  3. My wife and I were on the television show 1883. I own a portion of Cattlemen’s Steakhouse in the Stockyards with producer Taylor Sheridan.
  4. Jimmy Buffett, George Strait, and Robert Earl Keen are my favorite musical artists. I have seen Buffett in concert 36 times, including in March of 2023 in Las Vegas. Fins Up!
  5. I prefer horses over golf. I generally know where the horses are going.
  6. “It takes no more time to see the good side of life than it takes to see the bad.” Buffett
