Three Winners Over the Weekend, Runners Getting Picture Taken at 31% / Tuesday, February 19, 2013

It was a fantastic weekend for WPT runners and Partners, with three horses adding victories to their resumes. Toasting splashed to victory in the slop in an allowance race on Friday at Gulfstream. Awesome Vision fell to his knees at the break on Saturday at Aqueduct, but rebounded and had plenty left in the tank to get up just in time. Wayne Catalano trainee Belvedere Road broke his maiden in style on Sunday at Hawthorne.

The stable is winning at an amazing 31% clip so far this year and hitting the board at 57%.

A daughter of Congrats, Toasting stamped her ticket to more stakes action with her victory in an off the turf allowance race on Friday. Under Luis Saez she pressed the frontrunner before spurting clear to win by five lengths. Click here to watch the race.

“I knew this filly was sitting on a big effort,” said trainer Tom Albertrani. “When she feels good she’s a handful, and the past few weeks she’s been kicking down my barn. Terry and I talked the morning of the race and saw no reason not to stay in when it came off the turf considering her dirt form. I’m still intrigued by trying her on the turf at some point. Bottom line is she’s versatile and talented.”

Awesome Vision gave his Partners a thrill on Saturday while in against open company for the first time. A NY-bred son of Awesome Again trained by Tom Albertrani, Awesome Vision made a bold move on the second turn to prevail by half a length. Click here to read about his thrilling stretchrun.

Belvedere Road rounded out the weekend with a maiden-breaking victory on Sunday at Hawthorne. A son of Sharp Humor trained by Wayne Catalano, Belvedere Road disputed the pace from the inside before drawing away in the stretch to win by over three lengths. Click here to watch the race.

“He worked so good the other day, I figured lets get him started in a sprint race,” said Wayne. “He was real sharp today and much the best. I’m happy for the Partners on this horse — he put it all together.”

“We always thought this horse would be stronger going a route a ground,” said Terry. “But the “Cat Man” pounced on a good spot knowing he had a fit horse — you have to be open to calling audibles in this game. The question we’ll try to answer moving forward is ‘what’s his best distance?’”

Congratulations to all of our Partners who stood in the winner’s circle this weekend.
