West Point Thoroughbreds scored another big success, this time in the auction ring, selling a two-year-old filly by Yes It’s True for $450,000 at the Fasig Tipton Calder sale on March 1st. Purchased as a yearling for $170,000, the $450,000 sale price represented a 165 percent appreciation in just over six months.
The filly was one of the standouts at the sale working an eighth in 10.3 over a dry and dull strip in the first breeze show. West Point president Terry Finley said, “”We’re absolutely thrilled. I knew this was one of the nicer fillies in the sale, and obviously the buyers thought so as well. We had seen a lot of action on her after the breeze. We got lucky. Strong athletes have continued to sell well, and she simply was what the buyers were looking for. We’re absolutely thrilled to score that kind of success for our partners. Buzz Chace did a great job identifying the potential foe this filly last summer, and David McKathan did an absolutely wonderful job getting her ready for the sale. It’s a true testament to how important it is to us have the best team working with you.”
West Point was also an active buyer at the sale purchasing three horses at the sale which will be available for syndication by the middle of March.
