West Point Thoroughbreds runners scored quite the hat trick Sunday afternoon, dashing to victory in all three races the stable entered.
Lady Fairbanks got a solid maiden win second time out off the layup at Golden Gate Fields, Mystical Rhythms (pictured above) romped by 8 ½ lengths at Aqueduct Race Course, and Mine For Love was a convincing 3 ½-length victor as the favorite in a field of 12 at Parx.
“This was a great day for our Partners and for the black and gold,” said Terry Finley, president and founder of WPT. “Lady Fairbanks’ win was especially appropriate at this time of year since we’re out at the Barretts sale this week and that’s where we purchased her.”

Lady Fairbanks is a 3-year-old daughter of Pure Prize who was knocking at the door at Del Mar last summer before a minor injury took her to the sidelines. She came back in February with a third-place effort at Golden Gate for trainer Craig Dollase, and that race put her in prime position for the victory under jockey Aaron Gryder on Sunday. Well-placed by Gryder in the early stages of the six-furlong maiden special weight, the chestnut filly bid three wide coming into the stretch and rallied to engage for the lead before driving clear in the final furlong. Her winning margin was 2 ¼ lengths in a final time of 1:10.60.
“Like we always say, you can put a lot of conditioning into them in the mornings, but sometimes you just need a race or two,” Dollase said. “We saw her perk up and move forward in the mornings after that first race back and thought she’d be in good shape here second time off the layup. Aaron rode a great race to get the job done.”
Mystical Rhythms and Mine For Love both turned in solid performances and both were claimed. We wish their new connections best of luck in the future.
