Unique 2-Year-Old Double At Ellis Park / Monday, August 28, 2023

Building up this spring and summer, Depiction and The Process were frequent training partners for Cherie DeVaux, both exhbiting promise, and a fun, added element was the fact that they are sons of the same sire, More Than Ready.

It turns out that they were both more than ready for maiden competition on Sunday at Ellis Park, scoring a unique double in back-to-back races underneath jockey Cristian Torres.

Depiction came first and put on a show on the Ellis turf course after taking control turning for home, powering away to win by 5-plus lengths.

Cherie will point him to a Breeders’ Cup prep race in early October to see if he can punch his ticket to the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf (G1).

About 30 minutes later, The Process aced his career debut, prevailing over three-quarters of a mile on the dirt.

The nearly black colt is not bred or built to be a sprinter. He is a half brother to Confidence Game, who ran in this year’s Kentucky Derby, and the dam is a half sister to one of the all-time legends, Zenyatta, as well as multiple Grade 1 winner Balance.
