As the first runner from the West Point Thoroughbreds 2-year-old class of 2025, Liberation rewarded trainer John Sadler’s confidence, mowing down the early speed and drawing away to prevail by a length and three-quarters on Saturday at Santa Anita. She earned a 74 Beyer (second highest of any 2-year-old so far in 2025) and a sparkling 14 on the Ragozin Sheets.
Jockey Hector Berrios guided the chestnut filly, acquired at the 2024 Fasig-Tipton California fall yearling sale.
Trainer John Sadler said, “Bright things are ahead for her, and I think she is going to appreciate more distance.”
With no allowance or stakes for Cal-bred 2-year-old fillies coming up at Santa Anita or Los Alamitos, the daughter of Omaha Beach will point for the $100,000 CTBA Stakes for California-bred two-year-old fillies run at five furlongs on Sunday, August 3 at Del Mar.
