Del Mar Dreaming With First 3 Runners Saturday / Friday, July 18, 2025

Final Boss leads a three-horse brigade to kickstart the Del Mar meet for West Point Thoroughbreds on Saturday.

Stakes winner Final Boss carries a June victory at Santa Anita into a deep edition of the $100,000 Wickerr Stakes. His trainer, John Sadler, has captured the Del Mar title three times and ranks second on the all-time list with 86 stakes wins at the oceanside track. In the irons will be Juan Hernandez, who swept the 2024 summer and fall riding titles at Del Mar for the second year in a row.

Earlier on the card John will unveil the 2-year-old filly Super Corredora in a 5-furlong dash. Acquired at the Keeneland September yearling sale, the daughter of Gun Runner is listed as 3-to-1 on the morning line with jockey Hector Berrios.

Hector also has the mount Saturday on stakes-placed Indispensable, making his second start of the year in a mile “a other than” allowance. Indispensable broke his maiden over the Del Mar track and same distance last summer.

West Point has a full plate around the country and into Canada this weekend, including runners at Saratoga on Friday and Sunday. On Saturday night, Pascaline is the even-money favorite for the $75,000 Robert Leavitt Stakes at Charles Town for trainer Arnaud Delacour and jockey Angel Cruz.

On Sunday, Ontario-bred Northern Invader will return to his roots seeking a Grade 2 victory in the $175,000 Connaught Cup going seven furlongs on the turf at Woodbine. Cherie DeVaux trains the 5-year-old stakes winner, who will have veteran jockey Rafael Hernandez aboard.
