Three Breeders’ Cup Auditions This Weekend / Friday, October 3, 2025

West Point Thoroughbreds has three exciting stakes chances this weekend with Breeders’ Cup berths on the line. We’ll be thinking purple beginning Friday afternoon at Aqueduct when Intricate Spirit will contest the Grade 3 Futurity Stakes,  a “Win & You’re In” for the Juvenile Turf Sprint. Joel Rosario rides at 4-to-1 odds for trainer Miguel Clement.

On Saturday at Aqueduct, Curtain Call goes in the Grade 1 Champagne Stakes, offering a berth in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile and valuable Kentucky Derby qualifying points. He is 6-to-1 on the morning line, with Ricardo Santana Jr. to ride for trainer Mark Casse.

At Keeneland on Saturday, Vahva (Irad Ortiz Jr., 7-5 morning line) will be the favorite in the Thoroughbred Club of America Stakes (G2, 6 furlongs), a “Win & You’re In” for the Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Sprint. She is the 7-to-5 morning line favorite, with Irad Ortiz Jr. to take the reins on the star mare for trainer Cherie DeVaux.

No Breeders’ Cup implications but Maui Strong will be a short price on Sunday in the $150,000 Hawthorne Derby outside Chicago. Vincent Cheminaud rides for trainer Dale Romans.
