Spread out between bases in New York, Kentucky and California, a trio for West Point Thoroughbreds will converge at the 2025 Breeders’ Cup World Championships at Del Mar on October 31 and November 1.
Intricate Spirit will represent trainer Miguel Clement in Miguel’s first Breeders’ Cup after taking the helm of the stable following the death of his father, Christophe Clement. It was Christophe who picked out Intricate Spirit on behalf of WPT and partners at the 2024 Keeneland September yearling sale. Intricate Spirit captured his career debut this summer at Saratoga and followed with a victory in the Grade 3 Futurity Stakes to earn a Breeders’ Cup “Win and You’re In” berth in the Juvenile Turf Sprint (G1).
Grade 1 winner Vahva will make one final start for her ownership group in the Filly and Mare Sprint (G1), a few days before she is offered at the Keeneland November breeding stock sale. Cherie DeVaux trains the 5-year-old daughter of Gun Runner.
The Breeders’ Cup will be a home game for Super Corredora in the Juvenile Fillies (G1) for trainer John Sadler. Another daughter of Gun Runner, Super Corredora stormed to an 8-length maiden win on October 11 at Santa Anita.
