West Point Thoroughbreds has enjoyed a productive stretch on the track, with each of its last 11 runners finishing first, second, or third. The consistent run has come across multiple circuits and conditions over the past two weeks.

The sequence has been highlighted by three wins, including a sharp allowance score from Vibe on the dirt at Gulfstream Park, along with a determined synthetic track victory by Walking in Memphis at the Hallandale Beach oval. Prototype added another win to the tally, graduating at Turfway Park.

While stretches like this ebb and flow, the timing is notable as stables begin to shift north following the winter months. With Keeneland on the horizon, the final stretch of Aqueduct racing underway, and Churchill Downs gearing up for the Kentucky Derby and Kentucky Oaks, the WPT roster looks well positioned heading into the spring.

One horse who contributed mightly as a 2- and 3-year-old and is looking for a relaunch at 5 is Carson’s Run, who will return to action on Saturday in the $175,000 Appleton Stakes at Gulfstream.

Carson’s Run captured Grade 1 wins in 2023 and ’24. He will make his first start of the year in the one-mile Appleton, teaming with Hall of Fame jockey Joel Rosario for trainer Miguel Clement.
