A stakes winner in both 2024 and ’25, Les Reys will return to action on Friday afternoon in the $100,000 The Very One Stakes during the Preakness weekend proceedings at Laurel Park.
Fellow French-bred Flavien Prat will ride the gray 5-year-old, who has captured the Winter Memories Stakes at Aqueduct and Ontario Fashion Stakes (G3) at Woodbine since she arrived from Europe. Miguel Clement trains Les Reys, a gray daughter of Penny’s Picnic.
On Thursday, it was a gray 3-year-old named Grunge who broke through on the turf for the Clement barn at Belmont at the Big A.
Grunge utilized his speed from the onset with jockey Jaime Rodriguez up, withstanding pressure into the lane and holding off a late challenge to score by a neck in the $85,000 maiden special weight. Acquired last April in the OBS spring sale, Grunge races for West Point and LJSS Thoroughbreds.
