Driftingandreaming came through for a winning career debut Sunday at Del Mar, taking command in midstretch to prevail by 1 1/4 lengths.

The 3-year-old Cal-bred colt rewarded a patient approach from trainer John Sadler and a strong ride from Hall of Famer Joel Rosario.

Joe Bianca, on hand for “Where the Turf Meets the Turf,” said, “Shoutout to the partners for trusting the process, and to John Sadler and his team for placing him aggressively to give him his best shot right out of the blocks. Now we have a ton of options for him, with Cal-bred and starter allowance avenues all there for the taking. Congrats everyone!!”

Rosario said, “He broke fine and put himself in a good position. There was some speed in front of us, but the whole time I felt like I had plenty of horse and that he was progressing forward. He tried really hard, so it was a good effort.”
