Atomic Blonde Breaks Through for Churchill Stakes Win / Saturday, May 25, 2024

Atomic Blonde had her day in the sun on May 25 at Churchill Downs, scoring a breakthrough win in the $225,000 Keertana Stakes underneath jockey Tyler Gaffalione.

The gray German-bred filly had placed in five stakes in North America before things went her way in the 12-furlong Keertana, as she relaxed beautifully at the back of an extremely strung-out field. Atomic Blonde gradually advanced and was poised turning for home, wearing down the favorite Chop Chop in the final strides to prevail by a half-length.

Christophe Clement trains Atomic Blonde and co-owns her along with West Point and Heather Winters.

A 5-year-old daughter of The Grey Gatsby, Atomic Blonde was acquired at the 2022 Arqana December sale, at the tail-end of a 3-year-old season that saw her win a Group 3 race in Italy.
