Classic Colors was the first WPT runner back at Belmont Park for the fall meet and she delivered with a crafty ride from Joel Rosario at even-money odds on Thursday for trainer Christophe Clement.
The New York-bred 2-year-old filly successfully followed up on a close third-place finish at Saratoga in open company. She was a yearling purchase at the Fasig-Tipton New York-bred sale last summer.
Rosario waited, waited and waited some more along the inside before turning Classic Colors loose in the stretch. She shifted outside and rushed to the front, inching away in the final strides for the measured victory.
