Counting Stars Tests Kentucky Oaks Trail in Martha Washington / Friday, January 30, 2026

Delayed by six days due to the winter storm that blasted much of the U.S., Counting Stars will go for a third straight stakes win at Oaklawn on February 6 in the $300,000 Martha Washington for 3-year-old fillies. This time she will be on the Road to the Kentucky Oaks: with 20-10-6-4-2 in qualifying points at stake for the big race on the first Friday in May.

Counting Stars and jockey Francisco Arrieta won back-to-back stakes in short order in December, scoring in the Astral Spa on December 14 by 4 lengths and the Year’s End on December 27 by 6 lengths.

Trained by Mark Casse, Counting Stars is 5-to-2 on the morning line for the Martha Washington.
