County Final Lines Up For Grade 2 at Kentucky Downs / Friday, September 10, 2021

County Final just missed in his 2021 debut and now shoots for a $600,000 purse in the Franklin-Simpson Stakes (G2T) on the turf at Kentucky Downs on Saturday.

A stakes winner in 2020, the 3-year-old gelding finished second by a head in the Greenwood Stakes at Woodbine on August 14.

Joel Rosario, winning at a 38 percent clip through the first four days of the meet, takes the reins on County Final for the first time since they split the field together in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf Sprint (G2T) at Keeneland.

On Sunday, West Point’s Galilean goes for his sixth stakes win in the E. B. Johnston for Cal-breds at Los Alamitos.

Galilean is 3-for-3 lifetime at Los Alamitos, dating back to a debut win in a 2-year-old stakes race in September 2018. He won the Soi Phet Stakes over this one-mile trip in 2020.
