Still a little green, Sandman ran on well in the stretch to nail down the show spot in the Grade 3 Street Sense, picking up a few Kentucky Derby qualifying points.

“I thought he ran well, I think he’s just still learning,” trainer Mark Casse said. “What we’ve always felt is the father the better for him and we still feel that way. He stayed on his left lead a little too long, he’s just a bit green, but he made a big move on the turn and galloped out really strong. What he needs is to run, that’s the way he’s going to learn.”

Sandman is 10th on the Kentucky Derby leaderboard with four qualifying points.
