Dripping Gold Rises to Stakes Glory at Age 6 / Monday, September 15, 2025

Dripping Gold’s career has been a testament to Shug McGaughey’s steady hand, with wins sprinkled across four different seasons. As a 6-year-old, he broke through in stakes company for the first time on Saturday, showing grit to edge clear late in the Presious Passion at Monmouth Park.

Samy Camacho guided Dripping Gold, who was an odds-on favorite coming off an allowance victory at Colonial Downs. He now owns 5 wins and 9 placings from 25 career starts, for a bankroll of $545,175.

West Point, NBS Stable and Titletown Racing Stables acquired him at the 2021 OBS March sale of two-year-olds in training. He hails from one of the last crops of 1999 Belmont Stakes (G1) winner Lemon Drop Kid.
