Four Winners to Cap February / Monday, February 28, 2022

West Point runners put a bow around the month of February with four wins over the weekend, with two coming at Gulfstream Park and two at Santa Anita in a memorable Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Unbridled Mary and Elector both scored for trainer John Sadler out west.

Unbridled Mary flashed through the final furlong to prevail by a head Friday and improve to 2-for-2 lifetime, both with Joe Bravo in the irons.

On Saturday, Elector erupted with a speedy maiden win by 4 3/4 lengths underneath Ricky Gonzalez, earning a 94 Beyer figure.

Q F Seventy Five started things off Friday with a maiden win of his own, storming clear on the grass at Gulfstream with Irad Ortiz Jr. up for trainer Christophe Clement.

The capper came Sunday in the return of Graded stakes winner First Captain. Irad’s brother Jose produced First Captain in deep stretch and the chestnut colt responded gamely, pouring it on in the final yards to get up by a head.

First Captain, owned with Siena Farm, Woodford Racing and breeder Bobby Flay, improved to 4 wins in 5 career starts for Hall of Fame trainer Shug McGaughey.
