Intricate Spirit Favored for Return in Texas Glitter / Friday, March 20, 2026

Intricate Spirit makes his 2026 debut in Saturday’s feature at Gulfstream, the $125,000 Texas Glitter, returning to the races for the first time since the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf Sprint (G1).

The son of Complexity has been installed as the 2-1 morning-line favorite in a field of nine 3-year-olds going five furlongs on turf. A debut winner at Saratoga, Intricate Spirit went on to finish second at Kentucky Downs before breaking through at the stakes level with a sharp victory in the Futurity (G3) at Aqueduct.

Trainer Miguel Clement has been pleased with how he’s coming into the race. “He’s been training forwardly,” Clement said. “I’m very happy with him coming into the race.”

Elaborating on an unplaced effort in the Breeders’ Cup, Miguel said, “He broke a touch slow. Going five-eighths in California, that might be insurmountable.”

He will be making his first start as a gelding. Junior Alvarado has the call for the return, and the race presents a strong opportunity to get him back on track while setting the tone for a spring campaign.
