Intricate Spirit turned his career debut into an exciting unveiling on Friday afternoon at Saratoga as the 2-year-old colt drew off impressively to win by 3 1/2 lengths for trainer Miguel Clement.
A tall, hulking son of Complexity, Intricate Spirit showed good speed tracking right off the pace underneath Joel Rosario and pounced turning for home.
Andy Serling said on Fox Sports’ Saratoga Live show: “The connections to this horse are right now thinking about the Breeders Cup Juvenile Turf Sprint. This was an impressive performance. This horse absolutely destroyed this field.”
West Point races Intricate Spirit with Madaket Stable and Kenneth and Gail Beitz. He was acquired by Miguel’s late father, Christophe, at the 2023 Keeneland September yearling sale.
