Jaxon Traveler extended his travels and his winning ways Sunday with a 3-length triumph in the Bill Thomas Memorial Stakes at Sunland Park.
Joel Rosario guided the 6-year-old veteran, who sped to the front and rolled home to become a stakes winner for the fifth straight season for Hall of Fame trainer Steve Asmussen. Acquired for $140,000 at the 2020 OBS April sale of 2-year-olds in training, Jaxon Traveler has now earned $741,849.
A two-time champion Maryland-bred with five career scores in his native state, he is also now making himself at home in New Mexico, having dominated the Zia Park Sprint there in November before returning for Sunday’s race.
Rosario and Jaxon Traveler are 3-for-4 together.
