Romans commented, “We really don't know where the ceiling is with this filly. I know a lot of people thought she was cooked midway through the turn, but I wasn't all that worried.  She's trained so very well, I would have been shocked to see her fall back and not come running again. She was just getting started at the quarter pole. Corey (Lanerie) knows the filly so well and gave her a great ride today. I think her best race is a long ways away."

I'm grateful to Dale's amazing staff who kept the filly on tilt for several months after her “uh oh” race off the layoff at Kentucky Downs,” said WPT EVP Jeff Lifson. “They never lost any confidence in her, and she's trained like a stakes winner for them ever since we switched back to dirt and Dale began to envision two turns as the way to go. We had to sit on her over the summer because she just wasn’t flourishing. It’s safe to say she’s worth the wait."

"We knew the idea of going to Zia was a little out of the box," said WPT racing manager Erin Birkenhauer. "But, there was a lot of money on the line and this was one of the last major straight 3-year-old races of the year. We're thrilled to get this filly some black type and feel really good about her chances of becoming a graded stakes winner in 2016."

Lavender Chrissie earned $189,000 for her win, bringing her total earnings to $278,813. She’s out of the Rubiano mare Lavender Baby and is a half sister to three stakes horse: Baby J, Laureate Conductor, and Que Posse.
