Mount Up Pounces at Saratoga / Monday, August 21, 2023

Mount Up opened up powerfully at the top of the Saratoga stretch and held on to score his second career win Sunday.

The 3-year-old colt has fired consistently for trainer Todd Pletcher, with a record of 2 wins and 2 seconds in 4 starts. He was extra smooth Sunday with the addition of blinkers, delivering underneath Saratoga’s leading jockey Irad Ortiz Jr. Mount Up registered a 91 Beyer speed figure, up from an 80 when he finished second on July 23 and a 77 in a maiden win on July 22.

West Point campaigns Mount Up in a racing partnership with St. Elias Stable. He was acquired as a yearling at the Fasig-Tipton Saratoga select sale in 2021.

The victory improved West Point’s record at Saratoga this summer to 3 wins, 5 seconds and a third from 14 runners.
