Purchased at the 2025 OBS April 2-Year-Old in Training Sale, Counting Stars made an immediate impact, breaking her maiden at first asking for Hall of Fame trainer Mark Casse in September 2025.

She continued her ascent over the winter at Oaklawn Park, capturing three stakes races between December 2025 and March 2026. The run was highlighted by a dominant victory in the $1 million Fantasy Stakes (G2), one of the premier prep races for the Kentucky Oaks, after finishing a strong second in the Honeybee Stakes (G2).

After a game third-place finish in the Kentucky Oaks (G1), Counting Stars announced herself among the nation’s elite 3-year-old fillies with a commanding victory in the Acorn Stakes (G1) at Saratoga. Just a few weeks later, she returned to Saratoga and once again defeated Kentucky Oaks winner Always a Runner, adding the prestigious Coaching Club American Oaks (G1) to her résumé and cementing her status as the top 3-year-old filly in the country.
