A son of Kentucky Derby winner Smarty Jones, Sunrise Smarty scored his first graded stakes victory in the 2011 Fall High Weight Handicap (G3) at Aqueduct. A lightning fast sprinter, he earned some very solid numbers in his career before being retired in October 2012.
