West Point Thoroughbreds’ and Team D’s 2-year-old filly Redhairdon’tcare shined at first asking, winning a maiden special weight on Sunday at Belmont Park. The filly wasn’t cranked to the moon for her debut and is a star in the making.
After breaking from the rail due to two late scratches, she broke alertly under Joel Rosario and never looked back, prevailing by half a length.

Trained by Tony Dutrow, West Point and Team D purchased the daughter of Friesan Fire at the OBS April Sale and weren’t leaving Ocala without her. She’s incredibly athletic and worked lights before the sale — posting the second fastest eighth of any filly in the entire sale.
Talk about a rags to riches story. The filly was the only Maryland-bred weanling entered in the 2015 Fasig-Tipton Saratoga Fall Sale was simply overlooked, commanding only $2,000. She’s developed into a stunning individual and stakes action is in her future.
