Scatify Moves Onto Derby Radar In Second Career Start / Monday, February 5, 2024

Pitched into the deep end in his second career start, Scatify responded with a bold showing in the Grade 3 Robert B. Lewis Stakes (G3) on February 3 at Santa Anita, finishing third with a strong 91 Beyer Speed Figure and earning 6 qualifying points for the Kentucky Derby.

From the far outside post, Scatify went straight to the front and set a fast pace underneath Hector Berrios. He fought bravely to the wire, just missing second.

Scatify stepped up and stretched out after winning his debut in a sprint at Los Alamitos in December for trainer John Sadler.

The bay son of Justify was a $120,000 purchase at the Fasig-Tipton Midlantic sale of 2-year-olds in training.

Earlier on Saturday, Happy Am I stormed to her third straight win, powering through sloppy conditions at Fair Grounds in New Orleans and playing “try and catch me” with jockey Reylu Gutierrez aboard. She kicked away in the stretch to win by 5 1/2 lengths.
